Head Start
Bloody Civilian
WE SAY
It’s been over eighteen months since Nigerian multihyphenate Bloody Civilian broke onto the scene with the afro-pop, R&B-tinged anthem, ‘How To Kill A Man’. Since then, she teamed up with Rema on the bouncy ‘Wake Up’ for the Black Panther Wakanda Forever soundtrack, and released her debut EP, ‘Anger Management’, alongside a re-imagined remix collection. Vogue, i-D, NME, The Face, Clash, and The Fader have all sung her praises, while Billboard named her in their list of 15 Hip-Hop & R&B Artists To Watch in 2024. She has been heavily featured across BBC 1Xtra and Kiss Fresh and on numerous editorial playlists at Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and Deezer. She recently featured on the Bob Marley Motion Picture Soundtrack with ‘Natural Mystic’ and is now back with her first release of 2024, this dark, pulsating Afro-dance jam. Described by Bloody as “a vengeance track that’s Afrobeats but is also low-key Travis Scott coded”, ‘Head Start’ marks another audacious offering that continues to show her versatility and genre-bending talents. Upon release, the track was featured on DSP editorial playlists at Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon Music and received spins at BBC Radio 1 (Sian Eleri, Future Artists' Next Wave), Kiss FM (Juls), Apple Music 1 (Dotty), Reprezent, Westside and The Beat London. Having performed ‘Head Start’ at the first ever Boiler Room TV in Lagos and shows at Femme Fest and Our Homecoming festivals in the country, Bloody Civilian is ready to take on the rest of the world in 2024. One to watch.
