WE SAY
It’s been over eighteen months since we last featured the gorgeously warm and ethereal sounds of east London artist Blakey. Since then he has released two more singles, built up a repertoire of new tracks to be released this year and been synced to the recent series of Love Island, American TV series Shadowhunters, an Eagle Outfitters ad and MTV’s Catfish. With over 10m combined streams on Spotify, 18k+ Shazams, and tastemaker support from the likes of BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 1Xtra, Vice, Noisey and TMRW, he is now back with his first track of 2020. This moving and heartfelt track sees Blakey with his Chris Martin-like vocal singing about friendship over a gentle piano-led melody, percussion and lullaby-esque harmonies. Primed to be featured across streaming services new release and soothing contextual playlists this Friday, Confidant is a simple, yet sumptuous gem that will leave you full of warmth and contentment.
