WE SAY
We have always been impressed with the ethereal pop sounds of artist/producer Blakey, but on this beautiful track, he has seriously outdone himself. Released on Friday (8 January) and featuring on seven Spotify NMF’s, Bitter is the first of several singles he plans to release fortnightly over the next couple of months to form an album. Recorded at his home studio in the Suffolk town of Woodbridge, his new release blends a brooding piano melody with delicate guitar motives and ghostly production with hints of Ennio Morricone and Depeche Mode. It’s a gorgeous listen and one that we will happily be returning to time and again. Perfect for moody contextual playlists, as well as syncs on drama TV series, Bitter is, quite simply, a must listen. With fans already at BBC Radio 1, Radio 2, 1Xtra, Noisey, Clash and Notion, we expect more tastemaker support to come over the next weeks and coming months too. 2021 looks bright for Blakey.
