Black Orchid Empire
WE SAY
We receive many submissions on a daily basis which convince us that British rock is going through something of a resurgence. This impressive first single from London-based trio Black Orchid Empire provides further evidence to support that claim. Initially lulling you into a false-sense of serenity with a gorgeous lead vocal over an acoustic verse, searing electric guitars come at you full pelt as the chorus provides a thrilling rush packed with hooks. Heavy, but never losing sight of melody in the process, it packs a solid emotional punch. Having already performed alongside top bands including Biffy Clyro, Feeder and Editors, they’re lining up a debut album for release this September. Their recent launch show for this track at London’s Borderline has led to strong support from Planet Rock, Wizard Radio and Total Rock amongst others. Next, they play Islington’s O2 Academy on May 11 to launch second single God Is Awake. Currently seeking management and live representation as well as a publishing deal, BOE prove they can deliver with this supremely confident opening gambit.
