The Tides
Bird
WE SAY
Bird is the moniker of half-English, half-Irish singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Janie Price. A classically trained musician, Bird has released four studio albums and has composed and recorded string sections with Just Jack and played live with Emeli Sande and Vanessa Mae. Along the way, she has picked up tastemaker praise from Wonderland, The Telegraph, Q, and Radio 2, to name just a few. Taken from the soundtrack album of award-winning short film ‘Wider Than The Sky’, ‘The Tides’ is a gorgeously soothing and atmospheric number. Co-written with John Paul White (The Civil Wars) and produced by Mike Hedges (The Cure, Manic Street Preachers, Travis), the song is a haunting and evocative composition combining electronic textures with folk and orchestral instrumentation. Released last Friday (22 September), ‘The Tides’ would fit any chilled contextual playlists at DSPs and spins at Radio 1, 2 & 6 Music. It’s simply beautiful. Think Groove Armada’s ‘At The River’ meets Röyksopp tinged with James Bond orchestration. Watch the video here.
