Time Comes in Roses
Bess Atwell
WE SAY
With the Great Escape Festival Online starting tomorrow, we thought we would look at three artists we reckon you should watch. First up is an artist we supported earlier this year, the brilliant singer and songwriter Bess Atwell. Signed to Lucy Rose’s Real Kind Records, Bess creates beautifully dreamy folk-tinged indie based on her own experiences. The Brighton-based artist has already impressed tastemakers like Guardian, Independent and Wonderland, while 6 Music has heavily supported her throughout her career so far. Her latest single, Time Comes in Roses, sees Bess take her conventional acoustic singer-songwriter aesthetic and a touch of atmosphere around her vocals for a heartfelt and passionate number. The track featured on Spotify's New Music Friday playlist on release, and has picked up love from online blogs too. Later this month (26 May), she is set to play Oslo in Hackney, her first London live show since the pandemic started, but before that, you can watch her perform at TGE Online on Thursday at 18.37 on stage 6.
