We Prefer It In The Dark
Bat and Ball
WE SAY
We Prefer It In The Dark is the impressive debut from brother and sister duo Bat and Ball, whose sparse and jagged future-pop takes several unexpected but interesting turns across the EP's four equally strong tracks. Joining siblings Chris & Abi Sinclair are fellow Goldsmiths alumni Ed Burton, Jamie Coe and Harri Chambers, completing a five-piece unit making intelligent, electronic-inflected indie in the vein of Alt-J and London Grammar. Blogs including Best Fit, Clash and Earmilk are justifiably excited, there's solid tastemaker press from the likes of NME, Independent on Sunday and Guardian New Band of the Day, while an Xfm session for John Kennedy is booked for this week. No surprise then that they're attracting attention from both the Kensington and Shoreditch ends of the A&R community, a healthy clutch of whom were in attendance for last night's well-received White Heat show at Madame JoJo's.
