Born to Greek parents in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Basil Panagop is the moniker of writer, producer and artist Vasili Demitri Panagopoulos. Having spent time in London and Glasgow working on his laid-back blend of R&B, Hip-hop and pop, Basil is currently based in Berlin, where he is putting the finishing touches on his second album, 6AM, which will be released later this year. His earlier releases have seen him amass over 1.8m streams and garner tastemaker praise from Hype Magazine, Okay Player, Eat The Music and Tenement TV. This chilled jammer featuring Feux, released tomorrow (31 March), is the first track to be taken from his forthcoming debut album and was co-written with Feux and co-produced by Basil and collaborator Edmund Berkmann. Deserving of additions on chilled R&B playlists, Plantain is an excellent taster of what’s to come but also as an introduction to his music. For fans of Frank Ocean, Brent Faiyez and Brockhampton.
