AURORA
WE SAY
We’ve been fans of teenage Norwegian star AURORA since we first featured her last May with the excellent Running With The Wolves and with her John Lewis TV ad-sync cover of the Oasis track Half The World Away. Now comes her full mainstream assault with original new music, beginning with this from her forthcoming debut album All My Demons Greeting Me As A Friend. She’s delivered almost 40m Spotify streams in the past year and 12m Vevo views. Huw Stephens, Phil Taggart & Clara Amfo have all been big supporters at Radio 1 along with Annie Mac, who had the first play of this last Thursday evening (January 14). AURORA’s London gig at Union Chapel on February 2 is sold out but summer festival dates are upcoming and a full UK tour is on the cards for October. This is a supremely jaunty, uptempo burst of pop, full of hooks and massive drum sounds, all of which could slide perfectly onto radio stations across the globe. We always keep an eye and ear on Scandi music as it’s some of the best in the world today, quite frankly. One blast of this instantly reaffirms why.
