Desiring Machines

Atka

self-release

WE SAY

London-based, Brandenburg-born artist Atka delivers a beautifully haunting and moving art pop debut in ‘Desiring Machines’. Set amidst swirling industrial, electronic sounds, Atka explores how one's own body is experienced as an object under the (male) gaze. Taken from her forthcoming debut EP, ‘The Eye Against The Ashen Sky’, which was recorded at the home studio of Gang of Youths guitarist Jung Kim and mixed by Stephen Sedgwick (Gorillaz, Damon Albarn, Blur), the track deserves to be featured on new release programming and alternative/electronic editorial playlists at DSPs. Plus, the song is perfect for spins at 6 Music and specialist shows on Radio 1. Watch the gorgeously shot, self-directed accompanying video here. It’s early days, but upon our very first listen, we were instantly impressed by the vision and sound of this debut, and after numerous spins (on repeat), we are excited to hear the rest of the EP and watch Atka grow as an artist and rise on the music scene. One to watch.
