WE SAY
French duo As Animals comprise of Frédéric Grange and vocalist Zara Desbonnes. They met in Paris in 2011 and this track sees the pair setting their sights on UK and worldwide attention after starting off by simply making tunes in their bedroom. Debut single I See Ghost (Ghost Gunfighters) recently was remixed by Star Slinger and notched up over 120k Soundcloud plays in a fortnight, along with over 600,000 YouTube views. Their self-titled album has just been released in France, reaching No.2 on the iTunes album chart there. UK online support and praise has come from Clash, Artrocker, Beats Per Minute, Ladygunn, Rough Magazine, Alfitude and Nerdy Frames, to name a few. A recent London gig at The Garage will be followed by an appearance at Brighton's Great Escape Festival this spring on May 8. Meticulous in their approach to music, the sound they make oddly reminds us of that great ZTT German band of the 80s, Propaganda: killer hooks that get under your skin with an enigmatic, continental twist vocally. The chorus of Big Slap will stick with you, keeping you awake at night when you least expect it. Their time is now.
