Hyperfunk (Bklava Remix)

Premiered by DJ Target on 1Xtra last week, Hyperfunk (Bklava remix) marks the 25th anniversary of UK garage label Locked On Records. Home to The Streets’ Original Pirate Material, Artful Dodger & Romina Johnson's You’re Movin’ Too Fast and many more garage classics, the label has enlisted rising UKG newcomer Bklava to remix Antonio’s 1998 2-step classic. The Brighton-based DJ/producer and vocalist fuses the playful ’90s garage sounds with her sugar-sweet vocals and new wave garage vibes for a modern club banger. Trench and Hunger have lapped up this remix, along with a spin from Danny Howard at Radio 1 last Friday, and we expect more to follow at tastemakers and streaming as the weeks progress and the new wave of garage, and its influence, continues to inspire a new generation. The release also comes with a second remix by Steve Gurley (2Step2Heaven), and a vinyl version is now available to pre-order at www.lockedonrecordings.co.uk.
