Lonely Love
Amy Syed
WE SAY
Back in June, we featured singer-songwriter Amy Syed with her wonderfully atmospheric chilled electro ballad You Go To My Head, a cover of a tune that the great Billie Holiday had recorded back in the 1930’s. After such positive feedback, the unsigned London-based artist returns with this original composition, recorded in Wales during the summer. It was co-written with red-hot Northampton musician Bruno Major, who’s winning plaudits himself from so many tastemaker blogs for his output to date. Together, they create something that’s dreamy and simply gorgeous. Maintaining that same sort of luscious vibe as her previously-featured song, production again comes from her long-collaborator Ali Thynne (who’s worked with MNEK and Ekkah amongst others) and Royal Academy graduate Peter Lee on keyboards. The trio are set to announce live dates in the new year, and are in the studio right now putting the finishing touches to a forthcoming EP. With so much promise evident here, there’s no doubt in our minds that Amy’s a major breakthrough talent in waiting.
