Heaven
Amber Run
WE SAY
Appropriately for a band that's just signed a major label deal, there's a pleasing momentum about Amber Run, the new name for Nottingham Uni five-piece Amber, whose self-released debut Noah we featured here in July. That track garnered online love from Best Fit to Clash, while radio support included a Next Hype and an Xfm Evenings addition, culminating in a BBC Introducing spot on the Radio 1 playlist. New single Heaven has a little more bite and beef to it, but let's not fool ourselves that this is Anarchy In The UK. We'll defer here to Backseat Mafia's unimprovable description of Heaven as 'songwriting that values swoop and swoon above crunch and clatter'; being five Buckinghamshire boys making well-crafted, accessible songs devoid of cynicism or sneer, Amber Run most likely aren't the band to incite riots or revolution any time soon, but that never did Kodaline, Bastille or even Coldplay any harm in terms of sales. Green light means go for Amber Run.
