WE SAY
It’s a soulfully smooth and stylish sound here from acclaimed Tanzanian-Canadian singer-songwriter and producer Alysha Brilla. This excellent track comes from her second full studio album Womyn which was released in Canada a few months back and managed to earn her a nomination in their annual JUNO music awards for Adult Contemporary Album Of The Year. Fusing roots and world music with jazz and blues, but giving it that neat pop twist that we heard on debut album by stars like Nelly Furtado and Amy Winehouse, this instantly sounds refreshingly bright. After much touring and playing festivals across Canada throughout 2014, she arrives in London in the middle of next month to promote this song - hopefully we’ll catch her and her five-piece band live during the trip. Talented and with an accomplished sound that’s pretty unique amongst her peers today, expect her sun drenched tunes to be welcomed here with many arms stretched wide open.
