My Drummer's Girlfriend (feat. Wheatus)
ALT BLK ERA
WE SAY
ALT BLK ERA are Nottingham sisters Nyrobi (20 years old) and Chaya (17) who have been creating quite a stir in the alternative music scene. Having formed in the later stages of lockdown, the sisters started making dark pop, which has since evolved into something heavier, pulling from multiple genres and styles. From the alt-metal of ‘Come on Outside’ to the electronica and drum‘n’bass-inspired number ‘Straight To Heart’ and their ‘Freakshow’ EP, they have caught the attention of Kerrang!, NME, Rocksound, MTV, Radio 1, Spotify (37 editorial placements), Apple Music, Amazon Music and Deezer. Plus, they have been nominated for Best Alternative Act at the MOBOs, Best UK Act at the Heavy Music Awards and two Youth Music Award nominations. Today (13 November), they have released a new version of the pop-punk doused alternative anthem ‘My Drummer’s Girlfriend’. Featuring Wheatus, this rock banger adds another layer of infectious fun and is primed for further additions on editorial playlists at DSPs and plays on radio. Watch the video here from 10am. Next, the duo will release their debut album, ‘Rave Immortal‘ in January, which sees Nyrobi further open up on living with a hidden disability (chronic fatigue syndrome) in their songs. With performances at Download, Reading and Leeds Festivals behind them, they will head out on in-store signing and live performance tour of the UK around the release of their album on 24 January.
