I Need A Dollar

Aloe Blacc

Epic

WE SAY

Having made an impact on critics with his 2006 debut Shine Through on the US indie label Stones Throw (Mayer Hawthorne, Madlib), Aloe Blacc's follow-up Good Things is his first release on a major. Having signed the record to Epic late last year, Andy Gill in The Independent singled out Blacc for 'drawing on the warmth of Bill Withers and the compassion of Curtis Mayfield'. Martin Horsfield's piece in The Guardian is one of many pieces to pitch the track as the recession's soul anthem ('a modern classic', Dazed & Confused). Blacc performed the forthcoming single on the last series of Later...with Jools Holland. Dollar is currently Fearne Cotton’s Record Of The Week, and has received wider Radio 1 support from Annie Mac, Trevor Nelson, Mistajam and Nick Grimshaw and 1Xtra support too. The track can be heard as the theme to HBO/ Sky Atlantic's How To Make It In America’ currently. Aloe returns to the UK for a headline tour next month. Video.
