It’s been nearly two years since we first featured Dublin-based singer-songwriter Alice Kiernan and her single ‘Golden’. Her fifth single, ‘Jealous’, marks a distinct shift in the Meath native pop sound, leaning into a bolder, darker, alt-pop aesthetic. With its eerie synth patterns, Billie Eilish-esque beat and catchy, quirky vocal hooks, the song is about “wanting it to work with someone, be it a friendship or a relationship, but unfortunately, they can never allow you to ever step above them”. Written by Alice and co-produced with Daniel DeBurca, ‘Jealous’ is a slow-burn earworm that deserves features on alt-pop/dark-pop playlists at DSPs and spins on specialist shows on Radio 1 and 6 Music. Her previous releases have caught the attention of Irish tastemakers, including Hot Press, Joe, TodayFM, Spin 1038 and more. For fans of Griff, Lorde, and Caroline Polachek.
