Break Me Out

Alia Fresco

CNVX

WE SAY

Instantly engaging, intriguing and compelling throughout, Danish artist Alia Fresco has created something rather wonderful on this song from her self-titled four-track debut EP. Produced by Kid Drama and released on his own CNVX imprint, it manages to carefully straddle the often cold world of experimental sounds whilst remaining soulful and passionate at the same time. Her journey began in 2011 when she uploaded to SoundCloud her own unofficial remixes for some of her favourite UK producers. That led to her working with Beastie Respond on the 2013 debut Wait For Me which in turn then brought her together with Kid Drama on his Covering Ground EP and album The Levels. This EP provides us with the sort of parallels you’ll find in the work of FKA Twigs and BANKS. Kid and Alia describe their sound as ‘autonomic pop’, music for the future that they've clearly defined, influenced by drum'n'bass without being a slave to the genre. That’s what drew us to it. Strict electronic beats blend with beautiful earthy vocals on this track, and it sticks with you long after your first taste.
