Breaking The Fall
Alexander Wolfe
WE SAY
English singer-songwriter Alexander Wolfe first came to our attention in October last year, when we featured his brilliant song Fixed For Today. He followed this up with I Can’t Get To Sleep earlier this year, which gained support from Lauren Laverne, 6 Music Recommends and The Line Of Best Fit. He now returns with the blissfully beautiful Breaking The Fall. A track that elegantly combines lush harmonies and acoustic strumming with a driving percussion that gives the song momentum, which is only fitting for a song about going forwards and leaving the past behind. Reminiscent of the sound of late 90s bands like Doves and The Beta Band, the track also draws inspiration from Bon Iver and early Elliott Smith recordings with its art-rock edge. Tastemaker support has so far come from Clash, All Things Go, Indie Shuffle, Hype Machine and many more whilst Spotify have added the track to its Fresh Folk playlist. All in all this is a charming and uplifting return from a talented artist.
