Settle For (21)
Alex Tierney
WE SAY
It’s been just over fifteen months since we featured the glorious slow jam debut from Dublin singer-songwriter Alex Tierney. His blend of catchy pop and gentle folk songwriting sensibilities with elements of hip-hop and R&B production quickly caught the attention of tastemakers like MTV, iHeartRadio, Vevo, RTE 2FM, Euphoria magazine and a number of online blogs. Plus, the online support of Niall Horan and Lewis Capaldi, who had also invited him to open his show at Dublin’s iconic Olympia theatre on his last tour. Along with his follow-up single Painkiller, Alex has also had editorial support at Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon Music. After spending the first six months of this year working on new material during the lockdown, Alex is now back with this lush and laidback offering, his first from a collection of six tracks he recorded. Mixed by Post Malone and James Blake collaborator Jonas Jalhay, Settle For (21) sees Alex move to a more woozy and rich indie vibe, full of gorgeous guitar hooks and a fuller production. Perfect for additions to chilled and new pop playlists, we can also hear this being synced for a Netflix TV drama series too. With a sound that is now and instantly addictive, Alex has come back with a statement of intent, showcasing exquisite songwriting and vocal. One to watch.
