Stupid Stupid
Alex Day
WE SAY
Independent phenomenon Alex Day is making his case for this year's Christmas No.1 as he passes a staggering 100 million YouTube views without as much as a PR. That makes him the most watched fully independent artist in the country. It's been a runaway 12 months since his RotD featured single - Forever Yours - reached No.4 last Christmas, setting a Guinness World Record for 'highest-charting single by an unsigned artist'. That was followed by another top 20 single and accumulative iTunes single sales of 300,000. All without a label, manager, PR or any substantial radio support. Forbes called him "the future of music", joining support from the likes of Wired, Huffington Post, New York Times, The Evening Standard, The Sun, The Guardian and The Sunday Times.
