My Word What A Mess
Alex Cornish
WE SAY
Alex Cornish is an Edinburgh-based singer-songwriter who is self-releasing his debut album Until the Traffic Stops next month. He has the kind of press quotes on his MySpace that most DIY artists could only dream about getting, but this would mean little without the sterling quality of work, which thankfully is as good as the press he's generating. We liked the comparison made between his sound and a combination of Astral Weeks-era Van Morrison and Radiohead. He's lined up to be XFM Scotland's showcase artist for the week following his album release with new music champion Jim Gellatly playing his album track over the week. Another radio supporter is Tom Robinson at 6Music. A polished talent who manages to sound studied but not contrived. JF
