Unless you’ve been living on another planet for the past year, you’ll undoubtedly know this song. You may well know the artist here too as we last featured Scottish troubadour Aaron Fyfe at the end of 2014 with his own sublime composition Love That’s Lost. Now based in Newquay in Cornwall, he’s taken Sam Smith’s global hit and turned it into an absolutely beautiful, even more heartfelt acoustic stripped-back affair that might just leave you in bits when you first hear it. His debut album 10 Songs was well-received a few months ago but this was simply recorded as a bit of fun. It's since stacked up over 100,000 combined YouTube and Soundcloud plays so it’s now being released digitally after countless requests from fans. He performs live in the Scottish borders tomorrow night (July 24) in the Solus Tent With Xfm at the annual Wickerman Festival with more outdoor events lined up including Boardmasters next month. It's very rare that we feature cover versions of recent hits but we really had to make an exception for this striking, fragile reworking.
