Say Something feat. Christina Aguilera
A Great Big World
WE SAY
Not to get all 'preferred their earlier stuff' on you, but we've been trying to feature Ian Axel and Chad Vaccarino, aka A Great Big World, since last April, when the rousing piano pop of This Is The New Year had our hit-o-meter needles aquiver for weeks. Management told us then that big plans were afoot for the US and UK and they weren't kidding. With a guest appearance from Christina Aguilera, Say Something is a sparse and delicate ballad that's proving an unlikely but gargantuan hit stateside. Following an appearance on So You Think You Can Dance, the track debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Digital Songs Chart, reaching the top spot on iTunes and Shazam, and this week becoming the most played song on US Spotify. With 2m sales worldwide and counting, and an eye-watering 25m video views in two months, the track has already been added at Capital, Heart and Real Radio, also picking up a Record of the Week at Radio 2. Expect more adds over the coming weeks, and plenty of promo when the boys arrive in the UK on February 11 and 12.
