UK electronic-pop trio London Grammar signs with PPL for international royalties collections 23 Jul 2024
PPL reveals band’s most played songs in the run up to headline Latitude set
London Grammar, the UK electronic-pop trio, has agreed a deal with PPL for the collection of their international neighbouring rights royalties. The addition to PPL’s prestigious roster puts London Grammar alongside recent signings such as Lewis Capaldi, Ice Spice, FLO and Kenya Grace.
Formed in Nottingham in 2009, London Grammar is vocalist Hannah Reid, guitarist Dan Rothman and multi-instrumentalist Dominic ‘Dot’ Major. Their journey to international acclaim began in 2013 with their debut album, If You Wait, which entered the Official UK Albums Chart at number two. London Grammar’s rise has been punctuated by numerous accolades, including an Ivor Novello award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically for “Strong.” The group’s second and third albums ‘Truth is a Beautiful Thing’ (2017) and ‘Californian Soil’ (2021) both entered the Official UK Charts at number one. The band are due to release a new LP ‘The Greatest Love’ on 13 September and are headlining Latitude festival this coming weekend.
PPL has compiled the band’s Top 5 most played songs on radio and TV in the UK to mark the occasion. Since the first airing of ‘Hey Now’ in 2012, London Grammar have received over 100,000 plays, making up 12 million seconds of airplay - the equivalent to being broadcast for 140 days straight.

PPL licenses the use of recorded music in the UK and collects neighbouring rights royalties around the world on behalf of performers and recording rightsholders. London Grammar’s decision to partner with PPL brings them the advantages of extensive expertise in neighbouring rights, a global reach and a dedicated team of over 200 individuals with deep knowledge and a passion for music. PPL’s cutting-edge technology systems, meticulous approach to meta data management and an expanding network of over 110 agreements with collective management organisations, all contribute towards ensuring that the band receives royalties when their music is played on radio, TV or public places globally.
Welcoming London Grammar to PPL, Chief Membership and People Officer, Kate Reilly, commented: “London Grammar stand as one of the most illustrious British bands of our time and to have them select PPL for the international collection of their neighbouring rights income is a privilege. We are dedicated to ensuring the neighbouring rights royalties they receive reflect the extensive global reach of their music. With 90 years of experience in the administration of neighbouring rights, we can leverage our growing network of international relationships, our cutting-edge technology and data management systems, as well as the passion we have for music to help ensure recording artists and musicians such as London Grammar get paid when their recordings are enjoyed the world over.”
London Grammar added: “It’s clear to us that the PPL team is committed to supporting artists to pursue a sustainable music career. Its adept handling of data allows us, as musicians, to focus on what we do best – creating, recording and performing music. We would like to thank PPL for all it does, not just for us, but for the wider music community.”
