DIALLED IN UNVEILS DIALLED INDUSTRY: A TRANSFORMATIVE MISSION TO EMPOWER SOUTH ASIAN TALENT & ANNOUNCES RESONATE - A NEW CREATIVE RESIDENCY
Dialled In is proud to unveil Dialled Industry, a transformative initiative designed to support South Asian talent in the creative industries. Specifically aimed at aspiring creatives, the initiative is for those 18 and over and addresses barriers to entry, offering accessible opportunities for careers in music, art, and culture. A new strand of the organisation dedicated to uplifting and platforming individuals in the creative industries Dialled Industry will be set up as a not-for-profit underneath the Dialled In umbrella. The first project spotlights South Asian live musicians through a residency programme for developing innovative ideas. Additionally, a mentorship programme will introduce participants to behind-the-scenes roles, all kicked off by a special event at Big Creative Education in conjunction with the London Borough of Waltham Forest, with more news on that event coming soon.
Dialled Industry combines mentorship, skills training, and flagship educational events to empower the next generation of talent. It focuses on amplifying South Asian voices, fostering collaboration, and reshaping the creative landscape to reflect the diversity and innovation of the South Asian diaspora.
Resonate
The first project from Dialled Industry is Resonate - a 10-day residency at Migration Studios funded by PRS Foundation and Arts Council England - launching with an open call for participants. Dialled In is a PRS Foundation Talent Development Network Partner supported by PPL.
The open call is for a residency for emerging South Asian live musicians and producers. Dialled In are looking for artists with original, boundary-pushing ideas who can bring their unique perspectives to the residency, hoping to amplify underrepresented voices and create pathways for emerging talent in live music and production.
Taking place between 17th and 26th March 2025, this 10-day residency aims to include three different artists, one of whom will get to perform at an international showcase in 2026 while the other two will feature at a future Dialled In event. All the costs for the program, including studio time, accommodation, travel and food, are covered by Dialled In through funding from PRS Foundation.
Prospective applicants must submit their ideas for the camp via this application form, which will also be linked to Dialled In's social media accounts. The application deadline is 15 February 2025, and artists can check Dialled In's social media for updates.
Speaking on the launch of the Dialled Industry, co-founder Ahsan-Elahi Shujaat shares, "We've been very fortunate to make it this far, but it would not have been without the guidance and support of our networks and communities, processing the last four years and everything we have achieved, we want to create the new leaders for tomorrow. For too long, many of us have sought help and support from people who have shared our lived experiences and could not find it. We want to offer everything we have learned to those wishing to enter these spaces and give thanks and flowers to those who have helped us get here."
