Concord Music Publishing ANZ welcomes The Beths 25 Mar 2025
Concord Music Publishing ANZ today announce a new worldwide publishing agreement with New Zealand indie-rock band The Beths.
Hailing from TÄmaki Makaurau (Auckland), The Beths exuberant sound moves deftly from blistering power-pop and punk to heartstring-tugging balladry and jangle-rock. Their growing catalogue of indie rock gems includes Expert In A Dying Field and Future Me Hates Me.
The Beths have had a whirlwind two years following the release of their widely acclaimed third album, 2022s Expert In A Dying Field, playing 200 shows across North America, the UK, Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand.
Jaime Gough, Managing Director, Concord Music Publishing ANZ said: The Beths have been a longtime favourite across our global team, so it's been fun welcoming them to the family. In a world of great music, it is the deft lyricism and unique turn of phrase penned by the wondrous Liz Stokes that sets The Beths apart. We're excited for what's to come for the band.”
With three albums to their name, The Beths have received widespread radio airplay and press support globally, played countless festivals worldwide including Coachella Music & Arts Festival, and toured internationally with legendary rock groups The National, Death Cab For Cutie and The Postal Service.
The band has received significant local recognition, taking home New Zealand's prestigious APRA Silver Scroll in 2023 for their song, Expert In A Dying Field. They have also won multiple awards at the Aotearoa Music Awards, including Best Group and Best Alternative Artist in 2019, and Album of the Year, Best Group and Best Alternative Artist in 2020.
On the signing, The Beths stated: We're stoked to be signing with Concord and joining their amazing roster of artists. It's meaningful to us to be in good musical company with iconic New Zealand songwriters, as well as the best the wide world has to offer. We're lucky to have found a publishing home at a well-respected, independent company with history and an ongoing presence in NZ. Really looking forward to seeing what we can accomplish working together.”
I am beyond thrilled to announce that we have signed The Beths to Concord Music Publishing ANZ. As a huge fan since their formation in 2014, I've always admired their infectious indie pop sound, which is a true reflection of their exceptional songwriting talent. What stands out most to me is their ability to write from the heart, creating music that resonates deeply with listeners. It's an absolute honour to represent such a talented and passionate band, and I'm excited to welcome them to our roster. Their creativity and unique voice are a perfect fit for Concord, and I can't wait to see what the future holds for them. added Pennie Black, Director, Concord Music Publishing NZ.
