Platform announces new lockdown schedule to build on impressive listenership

Gilles Peterson to present a daily show for the first time in 4 years

Award winning digital platform Worldwide FM announces a new lockdown schedule that builds on the station's already impressive listenership, which has significantly doubled over the last 3 weeks. Previously just over 400k listeners prior to the UK country lockdown, the online digital platform is now approaching 1 million listeners a month, with an average daily reach up by over 60% in recent weeks.

Founded by DJ and broadcaster Gilles Peterson (BBC 6 Music) and co-hosted by Thris Tian (Boiler Room Co-founder) Worldwide FM approaches it's 4th year since launching with 130,000 listeners a month in 2016. Now just 3 years old, Worldwide FM has already won accolades for 'Best Digital Station' at the ARIA radio awards and a nomination for best 'Branded Content' for its Japanese programming with Asahi beer.

Gilles Peterson says: "I am so proud to see the success of Worldwide FM at this moment in history when people need great curators and unique music more than ever before."

Worldwide FM's new lockdown schedule this week, is a continuation of the platform's passion and sense of curiosity for music, as well as working with one another to shine a light on marginalised world music and providing extraordinary access to records that are rarely heard elsewhere.

Stuck in the Brownswood Basement with over 50,000 records in his collection, Gilles will use his time in lockdown to explore deep into the crates and round up 20 of his favourite songs across the stations most celebrated genres including Brit Funk (April 16th), Broken Beat (April 23rd), Brazilian Jazz (April 30th) and Disco (May 7th). This will be a career first for the selector, having never previously shared his rundown of records in these genres before.

Other shows throughout the week come from Mari, featuring special guest Joshua Fletcher MBAC, MSc Counselling Psychology, the author of Anxiety, Colleen Cosmo Murphy, Louie Vega and more. Full schedule details can be found at https://worldwidefm.net/
