Year on TikTok Music Report 2024

2024 has been another incredible year for Music on TikTok. From propelling rising stars like Artemas, Benson Boone and Myles Smith to the top of the charts, supercharging discovery and re-discovery of artists like Djo and Blood Orange to the true cultural phenomenon of Charli xcx's 'Brat'. This year, 10 of the 11 UK Official Chart Number Ones and 13 of the 16 Billboard Hot 100 Number One's had a major TikTok trend, as the platform continues to provide a stage for talent to reach a global audience of music fans.
 
Among the standout hits are UK breakout star Myles Smith's 'Stargazing', Artemas' 'i like the way you kiss me', which reached #3 in the UK Official Charts, the chart-topping 'Beautiful Things' which put Benson Boone firmly on the map and who can forget 'End of Beginning' by Djo. With its catchy chorus hook, "And when I'm back in Chicago, I feel it", the TikTok community propelled Djo aka Joe Keery to his first Top 5 UK single.
 
Globally, "Gata Only" by Chilean artists FloyyMenor and Cris MJ, has emerged as the anthem of the year. This reggaeton sensation exploded on TikTok, topping Billboard's Hot Latin Songs for three weeks, reached No. 2 on Spotify's Global Chart, and claimed the top spot as TikTok’s Global Song of the Summer. TikTok has been instrumental in amplifying global genres, with this year seeing the rise of Latin music as a dominant force.
 
Top Artists on TikTok
Central Cee (@centralcee) is officially the biggest UK artist on TikTok for 2024, climbing two places this year to claim the top spot. Cench has been super active on TikTok, smashing boundaries whilst flying the flag for UK rap. His single 'BAND4BAND', broke the record for single-day streams by a UK rapper. At number two is none other than Charli xcx (@charlixcx). Charli’s 'Brat' era became a cultural phenomenon this year, redefining confidence and with multiple trending songs on TikTok including 'Apple', 'Guess' & '365', resulting in critical acclaim and a cultural zeitgeist. At number three, Coldplay (@coldplay) treated their fans with innovative experiences like the "MOON MUSiC" campaign, along with their surprise performance on Grafton Street in Dublin, which was captured for TikTok and led to one of the most spectacular pieces of content ever.

Biggest Tracks of 2024
There's been numerous break-out UK success stories this year, as 4 of our 10 biggest tracks are from homegrown talent. Take the enigmatic Artemas (@artemasaltalt), who has shot to prominence with his hit song 'i like the way you kiss me', reaching #3 in the UK Official Charts. Similarly, 'Champagne Coast' by Blood Orange, a catalogue song rediscovered on TikTok in 2024, reached #16 over a decade after its initial release, as the TikTok community routinely breathes new life into catalogue tracks, as old becomes new. There are also 5 genres represented in the UK Biggest Tracks of 2024, showcasing the diverse nature of music discovery within the music loving TikTok community.
 
The Top 10 Songs on TikTok globally accounted for over 200 million video creations on our platform, and also represent more than 8 billion streams on Spotify, whilst the Top 10 Songs in the UK accounted for TikTok's global Top Song of 2024 was the smash reggaeton hit 'Gata Only' by FloyyMenor and Cris Mj which was also TikTok's global Song of the Summer, with over 50m creations on TikTok and generating 1.3 billion Spotify streams, making the track the undisputed breakthrough hit of the year.

  1. "Nasty" - Tinashe: Thanks to its catchy "match my freak" lyric, inspiring over 18 million video creations and 170 million streams, the success of "Nasty" on TikTok has cemented Tinashe as a global star.
  2. "Champagne Coast" - Blood Orange: Originally released in 2011, “Champagne Coast” gained an incredible second wind in 2024, hitting #16 on the UK Official Chart over a decade after it's release and becoming Blood Orange’s most-streamed song.
  3. "Beautiful Things" - Benson Boone: A breakout star of 2024, "Beautiful Things" put Benson Boone firmly on the map. First teased on TikTok, the song ignited with his 7.2M followers, being used in 13 million creations and hitting #1 on the UK Official Chart.
  4. "Never Lose Me" - Flo Milli: Driven by a variety of trends, "Never Lose Me" had one of the longest ever runs atop the TikTok Billboard chart, landing Flo Milli the biggest hit of her career, reaching #15 in the UK Official Charts.
  5. "MILLION DOLLAR BABY (VHS)" - Tommy Richman: A runaway hit for 2024, the infectious chorus struck a chord with the community, transcending TikTok to peak at #3 in the UK Official Charts.
  6. "End of Beginning" - Djo: First released in 2022, this track from Djo aka Joe Keery caught fire this year, with the community latching onto the chorus hook, "And when I'm back in Chicago, I feel it", being used in 12 million creations and propelling it up the UK charts to peak at #4.
  7. BIRDS OF A FEATHER" - Billie Eilish: With its dreamy guitars, the song soundtracked friends dancing abroad as well as heart-warming proposals. Used in 14 million video creations, "BIRDS OF A FEATHER" peaked at #2 on the UK Official Chart.
  8. "Hell N Back" - Bakar (feat. Summer Walker): British singer Bakar has broken through with 'Hell N Back' and this remix featuring Summer Walker has built on the original songs success. Used in 6 million video creations and reaching the Top 20 in the UK Official Charts. Bakar’s romantic anthem saw renewed life with Summer Walker’s soulful remix. 
  9. "i like the way you kiss me" - Artemas: British-Cypriot artist Artemas has taken TikTok by storm with his song. Very active on platform, Artemas even collaborated with TikTok sensation Tube Girl, sending the track to #1 in both the Global Top 50 and Viral 50 charts on Spotify and reaching #3 in the Official UK Singles Chart. 
  10. Pink Lemonade (Str8 Reload) - LeoStayTrill & Mr Reload It: This track by 17-year-old LeoStayTrill from South London has become a huge breakout success story for UK Rap this year. Dubbed 'afro-drill', the song was co-written and co-produced from his bedroom at his parent’s home, reaching #3 in the TikTok Billboard Top 50 Chart and hitting #5 in the US Viral 50 chart on Spotify.
