Wise Music Group signs publishing deal with Sofi Paez

Wise Music Group is happy to announce that Sofi Paez has signed an exclusive publishing agreement with Berlin-based Bosworth Music GmbH.

Sofi Paez is a pianist and composer born in San José, Costa Rica, currently based in Berlin. She experiments with piano, voice and electronic elements in search of new ways to express her roots, using both the Spanish and English languages. Sofi's pieces are often inspired by daily life and the nature that surrounds her. In 2023 Sofi garnered widespread interest upon releasing her EP ‘Circles’, firmly putting her on the map as an artist to watch. Later in the year she was handpicked to perform at Ólafur Arnalds’ OPIA launch event.

Paez’s father introduced her to both pop and classical music. “I remember his Beethoven collection,” she says. “When he put on one of the symphonies, I was completely blown away.” Encouraged further by her mother, she began taking piano and ballet lessons, then moved to the Instituto Superior de Artes to focus on piano. Before long, she was winning awards, but three days after she graduated, she announced she was quitting. Instead, she began teaching the instrument and studying design. For a year, she didn’t even touch her piano. However, she joined renowned producer Askjell’s (Aurora, Sigrid) Discord server, where she made a friend who introduced her to Nils Frahm, Ólafur Arnalds, and Hania Rani, inspiring her to start composing. Her journey then took her to Berlin, where she collaborated in the studio with producer Miguel Murrieta Vásquez, alongside modern classical luminaries Ben Lukas Boysen and Lisa Morgenstern, who provided occasional instrumental assistance. This creative process resulted in her debut album, "SILENT STORIES," which was released in May 2024. This significant milestone also established the pianist, singer, and composer as the first artist signed to the acclaimed composer and producer Ólafur Arnalds' OPIA Community.
