UK Music Welcomes Labour Party Pledge To Widen Access To The Creative Industries
14 March 2024 - Press release
UK Music's Interim Chief Executive Tom Kiehl has welcomed the Labour Party's pledge to boost access to the creative industries.
Responding to a commitment made by Labour Party leader Kier Starmer at the Labour Creatives Conference to widen access to the creative industries, UK Music Interim Chief Executive Tom Kiehl said:
“UK Music launched A Manifesto for Music last Autumn, which laid out a comprehensive strategy to supercharge the music industry and since then we have been working hard to garner the support of the political parties ahead of a General Election on its key asks.
“This sector plan from the Labour Party marks a huge leap in embracing our agenda and we are pleased they have listened to calls from UK Music and our members on a number of issues.
“We hope that the Labour Party maintains this vision in its election manifesto and should it be elected to govern. We encourage all the political parties to make similar commitments.”
