Twin Atlantic sign publishing deal with 23rd Precinct, a partnership with Notting Hill Music

Twin Atlantic’s Sam McTrusty and Ross McNae have signed a publishing deal with 23rd Precinct, the iconic Glasgow-based music publisher.

Twin Atlantic have long been regarded as leaders in alternative rock hailing from Scotland, having just released their 7th studio album Meltdown via their Staple Diet label. Working with returned manager Polsia Ryder of New York based Village Artist Management, they sought a new publishing deal and talks led them to Billy Kiltie, owner of 23rd Precinct, and 23rd Precinct’s Publishing Manager Rosie Watson.

23rd Precinct is a familiar name in Glasgow growing from the indie record shop of the same name since 1992 into a company which now holds a label, music publishing firm and the emerging music conference Resonate, in its 9th year. They have a longstanding partnership with Notting Hill Music.

Frontman Sam McTrusty said: “It feels great to sign with 23rd Precinct as it’s a very natural fit for us. Billy, Rosie and their team are based in Glasgow, but they are also great people who understand not just our band but also our ambition as writers and producers.”

Twin Atlantic’s Ross McNae, also a big electronic music fan, said: “I used to go into 23rd Precinct crate-digging when they had a record shop in the early 2000s. I turned the love of music that institutions like 23rd Precinct nurtured in me and lots of other musicians and creatives across Scotland into a career, so I feel a sense of circular energy in getting to work with Billy and Team 23rd all these years later.”

23rd Precinct’s Director Billy Kiltie adds, “We’re really proud and excited to welcome a band I’m genuinely a fan of to the roster. Twin Atlantic have flown the flag for Scotland all over the world and they’re constantly pushing the envelope, melding and blurring boundaries and genres to make great rock music with real pop sensibilities. It’s music absolutely perfect for syncs so we’re excited to get started and take Twin Atlantic, Sam and Ross, to a whole new level as writers together with Polsia and the team.” Rosie Watson at the company says: “It's not every day you get to work with an artist whose music has played such a pivotal role in your personal journey. From the first moment I saw the band perform live at Barrowlands during the release of the album Free, I was captivated. I've always admired the band’s creativity across all areas, and I am honoured to be part of this stage in their journey. One of the reasons I wanted to work in music was to collaborate with my favorite artists and songwriters, and this opportunity is a perfect example of that in full force.”

Twin Atlantic have been co-writing with other artists, including the newest single by Lala Hayden (Anteros) and Lucia & the Best Boys.

Sam and Ross are currently writing Twin Atlantic’s next album, their eighth, which is slated for release in 2026. They will be appearing this summer at many festivals including TRNSMT, Slam Dunk, Download and Isle of Wight as well as some individual shows in support of McFly and Busted.
