Toddla T signs exclusive songwriting deal with Sentric Music

Acclaimed DJ, producer and composer Toddla T has signed an exclusive songwriting deal with independent publisher Sentric Music. 

The deal covers Toddla T’s third full length album, Foreign Light, set for release on July 28, as well as previously unpublished work. It represents the latest in a number of traditional publishing deals inked by Sentric in recent months. 

With lead vocals from Andrea Martin and spanning genres from hip hop and grime to disco and soul, Toddla T’s upcoming LP features a number of big names including CASisDEAD, Wiley, Stefflon Don, Coco, Silkki Wondah, and Addis Pablo (son of dub legend Augustus Pablo).

Sheffield-born Toddla T (real name Tom Bell) was catapulted into the spotlight aged 20 with the release of Do U Know in 2008 followed by his Ghettoblaster mixtape, which won the title of Mixtape Of The Year from FACT. He was then invited to be resident at Fabric and began producing beats for what would become Roots Manuva’s 2008 album Slime & Reason. 

In 2009, he released his debut album Skanky Skanky, an LP packed with guest spots from the likes of Roots Manuva, Tinchy Stryder, Serocee, Joe Goddard and Benjamin Zephaniah. 

Sentric’s Director Of Music Services, Simon Pursehouse, said: “Being a fellow Sheffielder of a similar age, Toddla was essentially seen as royalty on the local scene during my formative years and for fair reason. It was never in doubt that he was going to achieve what he has and I’m utterly chuffed to be working with him now on the eve of the release of his best work to date. The Foreign Light LP is quite simply one of the albums of 2017 and only goes further into concreting his status as one of the most important musicians, producers and general raconteurs we have in the UK’s music industry. Oh, and he’s also bloody lovely, which is a massive bonus.”
