Tim & Danny Music and Warner Chappell Music UK announce global publishing deal with rising soul singer-songwriter Elmiene

Tim & Danny Music and Warner Chappell Music UK have signed an exclusive publishing agreement with Elmiene, a 22-year-old emerging British R&B/soul star. He’s had a range of acclaimed releases and high-profile collaborations followed, including two EP releases and co-writing projects with Stormzy, Timbaland, and Justin Timberlake. Most recently, he was recognized as one of BBC Radio 1’s Sound Of 2024, released his latest single “Sweetness”, as well as the remix with the Grammy Award-winning writer Leon Thomas, and was nominated for the Rising Star Award at the 2024 Ivor Novello Awards.

Elmiene shared: “The pen is my most valued weapon, and the publisher helps me sharpen it. Extremely thankful to Tim & Danny and Warner Chappell.”

Tim & Danny Music Co-Founder, Tim Blacksmith, said: “I am incredibly thrilled that we at Tim & Danny Music and Warner Chappell Music are working with such a generational talent as Elmiene. He exemplifies all the qualities I look for in an artist, songwriter and creative.”

Amber Davis, SVP, Head of A&R, UK, WCM and Xavier Champagne, Senior Director, Urban A&R, WCM said: It’s rare to find a voice as powerful as Elmienes. His music travels from R&B, soul, and spoken word so effortlessly, and his authentic nature and good heart genuinely come to life in his songs. With only a handful of releases into his career, he’s gaining incredible momentum and on track to have a lasting impact on R&B/soul and the music industry at large.”

Born Abdala Elamin and raised in Oxford, Elmiene was nicknamed “the Michael Jackson kid” in secondary school after performing a mash-up of “Man In The Mirror” and Adeles “Skyfall”. In 2021, he went on to study creative writing at Bournemouth University, with a security job lined up for him after graduation. During this time, his friend began filming him singing covers including his rendition of D’Angelo’s “Untitled (How Does It Feel)”, which caught the attention of tens of thousands of music fans, label executives and artists including Questlove, Missy Elliot and Pharrell Williams. After, Elmiene began experimenting in the studio alongside producer Dan Hylton, combining spoken word with singing, which resulted in his 2021 breakthrough hit “Golden”, based on a poem Elmiene had written the previous year about his grandmother. The same year, it was hand-picked by the late fashion designer Virgil Abloh, and previewed at his final show for Louis Vuitton.

Since then, Elmiene has appeared on Lil Silva’s critically-acclaimed Yesterday Is Heavy project, Stormzy’s This Is What I Mean, as well as released his own debut EP EL-MEAN and his sophomore EP Marking My Time, with collaborations from Sampha, Jim-E Stack, BADBADNOTGOOD, Syd, DJ Dahi, James Vincent McMorrow, Courage, Lil Silva and Jamie Woon. He’s also performed worldwide, making major debuts in New York and Los Angeles, as well as at the Glastonbury Festival in 2023.
