TikTok partners with Melon on Add to Music App

'Add to Music App' harnesses the power of music discovery on TikTok to directly drive consumption on music streaming services

TikTok today announces that it has entered into new partnerships with leading Korean music streaming service Melon for its new feature, Add to Music App.

Add to Music App is a feature which gives music fans the ability to save the songs they discover on TikTok to the music streaming service of their choice.
Now, music fans around the world will have the opportunity to save music they discover on TikTok to Melon, alongside existing partners.

TikTok is known for being one of the world's best places to discover both new and catalogue music, constantly creating viral trends which drive music listening on streaming services. Add to Music App was designed to help music fans capture songs that they love on TikTok in the moment of discovery, and to easily save the song to their preferred music streaming service to enjoy whenever they like.

"Since the launch of Add To Music App, we have seen the TikTok community fully embrace the opportunity to save the songs they discover to the music streaming service of their choice. Our new partnership with Melon means that millions more music fans in Korea will be able to save, share and listen again to music that they fell in love with on TikTok." , said Michael Kümmerle, Global Head of Music Partnership Development, TikTok.

Minwoo Han, head of the Melon Business Department at Kakao Entertainment Corp., said: "We believe that our partnership with TikTok, which is the leading social media platform for music discovery, will be incredibly popular with our existing users and attract more music fans. As a leading music streaming platform, we will continue our efforts to enhance the value of music together with other major partners in each sector."

The feature will appear as a button that says Add Song next to a track name at the bottom of a TikTok video in the For You Feed, inviting users to save the song to the music streaming service of their choice. The first time a user presses the Add Song button, they can choose to save it to their preferred music streaming service*.

The track will then be saved to a default playlist in the preferred music streaming service, but users can also choose to add the track to a new playlist or an existing playlist that they have created. Following the first use of the Add to Music App feature, the music app selected will then become the default music streaming service for future track saves, although users can select to change the default music streaming service at any time under settings. Users can also use the Add to Music App feature from an artist's Sound Detail Page.
