The Rhythm Studio Foundation Secures Funding Support from The Ed Sheeran Foundation
05 February 2025 - Press releaseVital support for the Primary Schools Workshop Programme will help expand access to music education for 1,800 children in some of West London's most disadvantaged areas.
The Rhythm Studio Foundation, a West London music charity committed to enriching young lives through music regardless of background or personal circumstances, has announced its selection as a beneficiary of the newly launched Ed Sheeran Foundation. The support will fund its award-winning Primary Schools Workshop programme for the next three years.
The Rhythm Studio Foundation fills a gap with its ten-week Primary Schools Workshop Programme that focuses on engaging 8–11-year-olds in local state primary schools with limited access to music education. Half of the schools it collaborates with are located in the 20 most deprived wards in London. Over the next three years, the programme, funded by the Ed Sheeran Foundation, will empower around 1,800 students to create and perform music they love by giving them access to industry-standard studios, equipment and professional teaching. In turn, it will provide students with a practical skill they can use independently, as well as introducing them to experiences and potential career pathways they may not have explored otherwise.
In May 2024, Ed Sheeran and his team visited The Rhythm Studio Foundation to witness its inspiring work with young people. During the visit, they engaged with pupils from the schools' programme, watched band performances, and listened to music production projects created by the students.
Ed Sheeran commented: "I want kids to have the opportunity to learn instruments, explore production and songwriting, perform, and access apprenticeship schemes that equip them with the skills needed to enter the industry."
Chris Hodges, Founder & Trustee at The Rhythm Studio Foundation, added: "We are incredibly proud that the Ed Sheeran Foundation has recognised the significance of The Rhythm Studio Foundation's work and committed to supporting our Primary Schools Workshop programme. Ed's visit to the studio last year was an inspiring moment for everyone involved, and we're excited to collaborate to expand our impact on children in the local community."
