The Cause team launch 150 capacity subterranean venue in their Peckham pub - THE GREYHOUND
12 November 2024 - Press releaseTHE GREYHOUND
109 Peckham High St, London SE15 5SE
Since opening earlier this year, The Cause’s south London pub, The Greyhound, has been dedicated to being a great British boozer. However, with several ad-hoc parties over the last few months featuring the likes of DJ EZ, Ahadadream, LaLa, Capo Lee and the demand from artists and punters alike, the team behind The Cause couldn’t resist amplifying their roots and turning the downstairs into a fully functional, multi-purpose venue space, featuring 150 capacity dancing space, Martin Audio Soundsystem and quality programme of music, culture and arts events coming in across Winter ‘24.
The first month features an emerging lineup of underground selectors, producers and promoters from South London and afar spanning a range of rhythms ready to get everybody in the basement moving. The Greyhound will remain an entry point for talent across London without compromising on lineups of the highest calibre garnering some of the world's most trusted names in dance music.
Already having welcomed Dr Banana, Tasha, DJ Flight, Bone Soda, Dash The Henge, Willow, Bunney and more across live gigs, club shows, talks, record fairs and clothing markets, there’s plenty more to come from this super basement space.
Featuring a forthcoming programme spanning club, live, comedy, talks, fairs and more, this new era for The Greyhound will see the team pushing to adapt the space into a hub for the arts and music community. Taking the spotlight off the corporate and boring, and putting it on those who make the city beat at a grassroots level: the risk-takers, innovators and weirdos.
Expect to dance to the sounds of live acts and DJs in the newly improved basement and enjoy The Greyhound’s usual food and drink offerings. It’s The Greyhound as you know it with that extra The Cause magical touch!
In line with The Cause’s rich history of surprise acts, expect a few surprise guest DJs to play in the space promising to put Peckham back on the map once again.
“We’ve reimagined the basement space to fit a much wider offering and embrace the South London community. The space suits live bands as equally as it does intimate grassroots club-nights, markets, comedy and talks. We’re hoping the new format will become a real test-bed for all of these, bringing through new promoters, artists, performers and more who we hope can grow with us into our bigger stages and beyond.”
Stuart Glen, co-founder of The Cause.
