Tega Oghenejobo Appointed President & Chief Operating Officer of Mavin Global in Expanded Role

Expanded leadership role builds upon Tega's existing position as COO, reflecting his profound contributions to the company's growth, and his importance to its future strategic direction.

Mavin Global (Mavin) has today announced the promotion of Tega Oghenejobo to the role of President and Chief Operating Officer, effective immediately. This expanded leadership role builds upon Tega's existing position as COO, reflecting his extensive contributions to the company's growth, and his importance to its future strategic direction.

A founding member of Mavin Records in 2012, Tega Oghenejobo has been instrumental in shaping the company into one of Africa's leading music powerhouses. His leadership has driven the label's growth, innovation, and impact - not only within Africa but also on the global stage. From fostering the development of emerging talents, to securing key strategic relationships, such as this year's ground-breaking partnership with Universal Music Group, Tega's visionary approach has played a pivotal role in Mavin's evolution. His relentless focus on driving operational excellence, building a dynamic team, and expanding Mavin's market presence has firmly positioned the company as a key player in both local and global music arenas.

Mavin is home to significant global artists including Rema and Ayra Starr, both of whom achieved record-breaking successes with their debut albums, making them the most-streamed debut releases by a Nigerian male and female artist, respectively. Rema's "Calm Down" remix with Selena Gomez became the first Afrobeats song to surpass a billion Spotify streams. Meanwhile, Ayra Starr's sophomore album, The Year I Turned 21, made her the first Nigerian female artist to chart on the Billboard 200, following her 2023 Grammy nomination for "Rush," a track co-written and produced by label talents, Mbryo and Andre Vibez. Both artists are graduates of the famed Mavin Artist Academy which trains new talent in music and performance skills and builds connections within the roster. Their success is testament to the label's investment in diverse talents - that has in turn shaped regional soundscape and influenced global pop culture.

In Tega Oghenejobo's new role, Mavin Records stands ready to further solidify its global footprint, enhance its roster of exceptional talent, and set new benchmarks within the industry. This announcement marks an important chapter in Mavin's ongoing journey of growth and success.

"I am deeply honoured to step into this expanded role during such a transformative period for Mavin. This promotion is a reflection of the collective talent and hard work of the entire Mavin team. With the backing of Universal Music Group's strategic investment and leadership, we are poised to elevate African voices on the global stage and redefine possibilities in the entertainment world" Tega states, reflecting on the new development.

Don Jazzy, Legendary Producer, Founder and CEO of Mavin Records is convinced it is the right move as he states, "Tega has been a cornerstone of Mavin's success since day one. His leadership, vision, and deep industry insights have been vital in shaping the label's growth. His promotion to President and COO is a testament to his remarkable achievements, and I am confident he will continue to lead Mavin to even greater heights'"
