Streaming service On Air announces global licensing deal with Mercury Studios

Streaming service On Air has announced a global licensing deal with production studio Mercury Studios. Under the agreement, On Air will distribute content from the UMG-owned Mercury Studios’ catalogue of live concert video performances.

A premium streaming service for on-stage entertainment, On Air brings the best of live music to fans worldwide. Powered by a bespoke service and available to view across desktop, mobile and TV apps, the Mercury Studios deal deepens the On Air catalogue with the arrival of archival content from artists such as The Rolling Stones, Frank Sinatra, Katy Perry, Madonna, Hans Zimmer, Etta James, Fall Out Boy, Bob Marley and many more

Talking about the deal, On Air CEO Jakub Krampl explains, “We’re here to support the distribution of catalogs and monetization of long-form content in 4K with Dolby Vision and Atmos technology,” said Jakub, continuing “On Air provides an end-to-end service to artists, labels and rights holders — all backed by a cutting-edge tech stack.”

Mercury Studios, a division of UMG, is a full-service production studio focused on telling compelling stories through the lens of music. Their catalogue includes over 2,000 hours of iconic performances, including assets from the legendary Eagle Rock production company.
With their catalogue now finding a new outlet via On Air, Rob Gill, SVP Global Operations at Mercury Studios, adds: “On Air provides an exciting opportunity to showcase the breadth of Mercury Studios’ programming, from award-winning documentaries to concerts by iconic artists like Eric Clapton, Miles Davis, Chicago, Jeff Beck, Cypress Hill, and INXS. This partnership with On Air will further expand the reach of these remarkable performances.”
The first Mercury Studios shows are available to stream now, with prices starting from £8.99. Shows are available to stream on demand with unlimited replays through the On Air website, mobile, and TV apps.
