Sound City to air special, free entry ‘Stay At Home’ festival on Guest House

Sound City will air a special ‘Stay At Home’ festival takeover of its newly launched Guest House streaming platform during the May weekend the live festival and conference was due to occupy before the UK lockdown.

Taking place on May 2 from midday until 10pm, the online manifestation of Sound City will keep with the festival’s global spirit, featuring one of Taiwan’s biggest bands EggPlantEgg, and partnering with industry bodies Keychange, Featured Artist Coalition, Breakout West (Canada), Gorwelian Horizons and CAPLL. 

Headliners Friendly Fires will join the party with a DJ set, while The Wombats, Red Rum Club, The Night Cafe will play live amongst over 30 emerging artists.

A conference element will include John Robb in conversation with David Martin from FAC, Grammy Award winning producer Adrian Bushby (Foo Fighters, U2, Everything Everything) in conversation Dr Jennifer Otter Bickerdike, and Alex Sutton (LD Communications) on ‘PR in a Crisis’.

Fans are, however, encouraged to tip artists directly via the platform on the day, and to pledge money to the #saveourvenues campaign run by the Music Venues Trust, Sound City’s charity partner for this event. 

Liverpool Sound City itself is now scheduled for September 25 – 27. Organisers recently added a third day of headliners to the 2020 line-up, with an extended festival bill announced for the Friday.

Sound City CEO Dave Pichilingi said: “We were determined to fill the space in May that we have occupied for the past 13 years. We have put together an amazing line up of diverse artists and speakers from right across the globe. Everyone involved has given their time and performances for free. To show our gratitude, we would urge everyone to pledge what you can when you are on the Guest House platform. 

“Our aim is to be back where we belong in late September. For now, Sound City’s ‘Stay At Home’ Guest House takeover is our way of continuing our mission to put emerging talent in the spotlight and exciting our fans around the world.”
