Sonopress joins US Industry Association

Sonopress, the international storage media manufacturer, recently became a member of the Vinyl Records Manufacturing Association (VRMA). The VRMA currently has over 48 members from across the vinyl industry, which include not only half the pressing plants in the United States, but also audio companies, plating, mastering, packing, technology, and, of course, record labels.

“We are delighted to join the VRMA as a company and to share our decades of knowledge and experience in the areas of production, packaging, order fulfilment and logistics with the other association members and partners,” says Sven Deutschmann, Managing Director of Sonopress. Last year, Sonopress, together with its French partner Media Industries, re-entered the production of vinyl records after almost 30 years off the market and, after months of preparation, launched EcoRecord, a revolutionary new form of PET- based long-playing disc that dramatically reduces the environmental impact of the manufacturing process, at the beginning of March this year.

“We are very pleased with the growth of the association over these last few months which includes partners throughout the supply chain and companies of all sizes,” said VRMA President Dustin Blocker. “We believe that with the rapid growth of our industr, that it is more essential than ever to increase our interconnectivity to continue our path towards a sustainable and healthy business environment around the globe.” The sale of Vinyl Records has seen continual growth year-over-year for the past 17 years. In 2022, was the first time in over 30 years that vinyl record sales surpassed the sale of CD’s in the U.S.

Sven Deutschmann adds: “The US music market is the largest in the world and therefore attractive for us and our new sustainable products, such as the EcoRecord and our latest innovation, the EcoCD. We expect our membership of the VRMA to provide us with many important impulses that will certainly help us to gain further market share in the USA.”
