Rolling Stone UK Awards: Nile Rodgers announced as the Global Icon award winner
25 November 2024 - Press release
Nile Rodgers has been announced as the recipient of The Global Icon Award, supported by Visit West Hollywood at the Rolling Stone UK Awards, which will take place on Thursday 28th November 2024 at the Roundhouse in Camden, London. The red carpet opens at 6pm.
The musician, songwriter and producer has lived the life of a man who could now, justifiably, put his feet up. Rodgers brought David Bowie's Lets Dance to life, worked with Madonna on Like A Virgin and was at the epicentre of Studio 54 with Chic. He has since continued to work with the finest musicians and artists, from Daft Punk to George Michael via Pharrell Williams and Beyonce. Years later, he is still refusing to hang-up his Fender Stratocaster. A music legend still doing what he does best, Nile Rodgers is a very deserved winner of The Global Icon Award, supported by Visit West Hollywood.
Spotlighting the standout UK and Irish acts of 2024, the Rolling Stone UK Awards will be celebrating artists across categories such as the Album Award, supported by Volvo, and the Song of the Year award. Other award categories include the Live Act Award, supported by Connect Live, the Festival Award, supported by Moving Venue, and the Play Next Award, which celebrates 2024's standout rising star – won last year by The Last Dinner Party, ahead of the band's BRIT Award win and the release of their number 1 debut album.
