PR agency founder Ruth Emery launches new offering as an artist wellbeing & media coach
08 February 2023 - Press releaseRuth Emery, the founder of highly successful London based boutique PR company Yes Please, has officially announced her new offering as an Artist Wellbeing and Media Coach.
Ruth has been working with a diverse client base of artists who are at different stages in their career, offering services ranging from wellbeing and mindset coaching to media training and confidence building - particularly in live and media settings.
With nearly two decades experience in the music industry, including time at V2 Records and Polydor, Ruth has built Yes Please to become one of the most trusted and well-renowned PR agencies in the UK, which alongside her specialty TV plugging expertise, includes press and radio departments. Yes Please recently celebrated its 10th anniversary and in that time Ruth has worked with an incredible array of artists including Damon Albarn, Run The Jewels, Arlo Parks, elbow, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and many more. Ruth's professional coaching practice extends the services that Yes Please is able to offer its artists and the music industry at large.
Whilst the extraordinary levels of pressure that artists feel is well-documented, recent times have exacerbated the many issues they face - including the stresses associated with touring and navigating growing expectations in the digital space, particularly in regards to social media. As the industry evolves, the level of support and accessibility needs to rise to reflect these changes, and this is the driving force behind Ruth's new venture.
Speaking about her impetus behind the new service, Ruth explains:
"My mission is to normalise mental health support in the music industry here in the UK. With my work, I help artists to create healthy work routines, establish boundaries and prioritise their mental health so they can have a long and healthy career in music. In my media coaching work each session is tailored to the individual artist to help them express their story in their own unique way whilst getting the best out of the media experience. In my wellness sessions, we work on a simple tool-kit, which is different and bespoke for each artist, to help them cope, to understand themselves better and to be able to recognise if they are starting to become overwhelmed or anxious. It’s so vital to be able to recognise the signs early so their team can help to put the right support in place.”
Speaking about Ruth’s work as a coach, Robert Swerdlow, Artist Manager at Starwood Management, comments, "Ruth’s wealth of experience has proved invaluable to our artists, instilling confidence and balance as they navigate their way through all aspects of the music industry's media.” Artist Manager at Red Light Manager Peter McGaughrin also comments, “The stresses and strains on artists to be the best versions of themselves 24-7 in the public eye are huge - to have Ruth’s experience in supporting mental health wellbeing combined with an in-depth knowledge of successful release campaigns has proved uniquely beneficial to my clients.”
Anaïs, one of the artists Ruth has coached, has offered her personal feedback on the experience, commenting, “working with Ruth has been truly transformative. She coached me through my transition from being with a major label to being independent. She helped me rebuild my confidence and supported me through the many challenges I faced during that journey. Working together was an essential part of the success I’ve been able to achieve afterwards.”
