07 October 2024 - Press releaseThe PPL Momentum Music funded singer songwriter’s debut EP ‘Self Sabotage’ is out now
Music licensing company PPL has announced the exclusive signing of the Manchester based pop-soul singer songwriter, Lusaint, for the collection of her internationalneighbouring rights royalties. The signing of the PPL Momentum Music funded artist follows the recent release of her debut EP ‘Self Sabotage’. Lusaint’s mandate comes hot on the heels of BRITs Rising Star winners, The Last Dinner Party, with both acts joining a strong line-up of emerging talent that has already selected PPL for their international collections this year, including FLO, Ice Spice, and Kenya Grace.
2024 has been quite the year for Lusaint with her original music garnering support from the likes of Jack Saunders, Sian Eleri, Mollie King, Maia Beth, Victoria Jane and Clara Amfo on BBC Radio 1 plus being championed in her hometown by BBC Introducing Manchester. Elton John is also a fan with his support for Lusaint’s single ‘Sweet Tooth’ on his Rocket Hour show on Apple Music. Notion Magazine has quoted Lusaint “An Overnight Success” with further tastemaker support coming from the likes of Wonderland and Rolling Stone.
Overseas, Lusaint has been gaining support too, hitting airwaves in France across a multitude of stations such as Radio Nova, RTL, Europe 2, Europe 1 and Italy where Lusaint hit Top 40 in the national airplay chart with her track ‘Fool For You’. 2024 has also seen Lusaint conquer the live space for the first time, supporting a number of her peers including RAYE, Tom Grennen, NIA Archives and Jess Glynne at festivals such as Boardmasters, The Great Escape, Metronome Festival and the upcoming Neighbourhood Festival in Manchester. Lusaint’s debut EP ‘Self Sabotage’ was released last month on Heavenly Fire and has already generated over 10 million streams globally.
On signing with PPL, Lusaint said: “I am so thankful and excited to be working with PPL, their support for my project has been incredible especially with the PPL Momentum Music Fund grant earlier this year which is currently helping me for my next EP”
PPL’s Chief Membership and People Officer Kate Reilly commented: "Supporting emerging artists through the PPL Momentum Music Fund is an essential part of what we do at PPL. We’re happy to have supported Luisant in recording her EP and look forward to building our relationship. With our extensive experience and expertise in licensing and collecting royalties for a range of uses of recorded music in the UK and internationally, we are well equipped to guide new artists and their teams on the management of their recorded music rights, allowing them to concentrate on making and promoting their music. It’s all part of our commitment at PPL to fostering talent, providing foundational support for an artist’s growth and development, and working to ensure they receive fair compensation when their music is played publicly."
Headquartered in London, PPL licenses the use of recorded music in the UK when it is played in public or broadcast on the radio or TV and collects neighbouring rights royalties on behalf of performers and recording rightsholders worldwide. Its diverse and far-reaching membership benefits from the expertise of its 200+ team, advanced data processing technology and a network of over 110 agreements with collective management organisations (CMOs) globally. PPL will now work to maximise Lusaint’s income from the use of her recordings on radio, TV and in public spaces such as shops, bars, clubs, cafes, hairdressers and gyms.
