One House announces plans to transform the creative industries
07 December 2022 - Press releaseOne House is the world’s fastest growing artist development company having broken acts like Eliza Rose, Folamour, Yung Singh and SHERELLE. With their new manifesto they reveal how their experience rescuing legendary acts like Kevin Saunderson and Amp Fiddler from archaic and unfair historical contracts with some of the biggest music companies in the world has inspired them to build a better world for artists and creators.
One House’s Founder & CEO, Napper Tandy, who spent months in battle with legal teams over those historical contracts around artists’ ownership, now wants One House to ensure new artists don’t suffer the same treatment.
One House is leading a paradigm shift across the creator economy, putting equity-ownership and self-determination in the hands of a new generation of uncompromising, independently-minded, globally-successful creatives. One House creators:
- can expect to earn 300% more than through traditional major label model
- are supported to develop and own IP across music, video, social media, consumer goods and web3 all within one ecosystem
- control more creative decision making and are supported in exploring innovative new ways to earn
- access One House technology built to empower creators as the Founders and CEOs of their own businesses
It’s a model that’s led to some rapid success. Earlier this year, staff members Callum Reece (Snr. Artist Manager) and One House Records label boss Phil Wakefield helped Eliza Rose become the first female DJ in over 20 years to top the UK charts with her first project with the company. The hit single B.O.T.A took chart positions around the world and has already achieved Gold certification in the UK and beyond.
Eliza Rose quote:
“I’ve admired One House for a long time and obviously they’re based in East London so there’s that element of community that’s so important to me. I knew a lot of people (from One House) out and about in the scene so when I did come to work with them there was instantly that family connection. And then to go from strength-to-strength so quickly has just been fabulous. I feel really well supported and it just feels like I’m working with a group of my mates who I really trust because they know a lot about the industry.”
One House is focussed on empowering young artists not only to own their businesses but also to build platforms that create new access points to the industry for other artists, especially those from marginalised communities.
Working with the UK’s most in-demand DJ, SHERELLE since 2018, the team has supported the launch of her platform Beautiful, which exists to cultivate new music and scenes within the black & LGBTQ+ community.
Quote from SHERELLE:
“One house has built on my career by allowing me to constantly have the ability to collaborate with my team in a really organic way!
I really enjoyed all of the amazing things I’ve been able to achieve this year. “
One House’s Head of Live, Barry Davies has also been instrumental in launching Yung Singh’s incredible rise in the UK scene which has created a new thriving space for the Punjabi & South Asian community in UK dance music.
Quote from Yung Singh:
“I’ve been working with One House for nearly 2 years now, and it’s been a really enjoyable journey thus far! Barry and Josh, alongside the rest of the OH family have been great to work with and I love their artist centred and highly collaborative approach. They’ve been able to turn moments into long term success whilst ensuring everything we do feels authentic and genuine, both by working with the rest of the music industry but also giving me space to do things my way.
One thing I was very keen to ensure was to avoid being boxed in, however that might be - either as just a Garage DJ or only viewed through the lens of helping a resurgent Punjabi/S Asian scene but also helping ensure I was able to break barriers and bring what I can offer into spaces that haven’t seen or heard such things before! “
Napper Tandy, One House CEO comments “Everything we do at One House has to be driven by our mission: “To make a better world for creators”. Gen Z creators, artists and audiences are more and more motivated by independence and entrepreneurship, authenticity and open mindedness. Today, access to creation tools and social creator platforms has democratised the ability to create and release music. The music industry is now community driven, rather than relying on large top-down marketing campaigns and artists need a new kind of engine to help them build their community and stand out in an increasingly populated creator-scape.”
One House’s new manifesto, underpinned by an extensive research project, outlines this mission, their vision for the industry and the values that drive them forward.
