The UK Music Video Awards is delighted to announce the shortlist for the brand new VEVO Best New Artist Award, along with the nominations for Best Director, New Director, Producer and Commissioner Awards.

The UK Music Video Awards and VEVO have renewed their partnership this year to create the Best New Artist Award, which features some of this year’s best videos from the most exciting new artists out there, drawn from VEVO’s New Artist Video Chart. Since the launch of the LIFT programme in early 2012, which has boosted the careers of some of the hottest up and coming artists, to VEVO’s new DSCVR programme which helps to amplify new artists’ very first videos, VEVO has always been a huge supporter of new artists.

We are thrilled to announce the nominations for the VEVO Best New Artist Award: Avicii ft Nicky Romero – I Could Be The One, Bastille – Pompeii, Iggy Azalea – Work, Labrinth – Beneath Your Beautiful, Little Mix – Wings and Naughty Boy ft Sam Smith – La La La.

Collaborating with some of the most exciting new artists such as London Grammar, Naughty Boy, Gabrielle Aplin and Bastille as well as established stars like Justin Timberlake, David Bowie, Sigur Rós, Frank Ocean, Robbie Williams and Björk, this year’s Best Director, New Director, Producer and Commissioner Awards shortlists feature some of the most talented people in their respective fields, who have been responsible for some of the most-watched and most talked-about videos of the past year. The MVAs is the premier awards show dedicated to creativity and technical excellence in music video, the medium that has become the audio-visual entertainment of choice for the YouTube/VEVO and social media generation.

The UK Music Video Awards editorial director, David Knight, said:

“The MVAs has become a globally-recognised event for celebrating the outstanding creative work in music videos in the UK and around the world. Last year filmmakers travelled from Europe and the United States to attend our biggest show ever. It was a very good night indeed – and I’m sure the sixth MVAs will be the best one yet.”

The UK Music Video Awards 2013 ceremony will take place at The Queen Elizabeth Hall, Southbank Centre, on 28th October.
