Hosted at Croydon's Iconic Fairfield Halls Concert Hall on Monday 12th February 2024, NXTGEN CROYDON will feature a range of bitesize panels, seminars, showcases and networking events that aim to provide attendees with an overview of the range of jobs and income-generating avenues available. Topics covered on the day will include building a business, streaming, copyright, and how to get programmed at festivals and gigs.
Tickets are FREE and will be launched first to Croydon residents under 25 through schools, youth services and local partners on Friday 15th December 2023. Tickets are available https://ra.co/pro/events/1815607
The event is presented in association with the MMF, the organisation representing more than 1,500 UK-based managers. MMF staff will oversee dedicated expert-led sessions that will highlight the crucial role of the manager in building the careers of artists, songwriters, producers and other creative talent.
Annabella Coldrick, Chief Executive, Music Managers Forum said: "We are delighted to partner with our friends at Finesse Foreva on this incredible event. NXTGEN aims to provide young people in Croydon with a comprehensive overview of the music business, and will hopefully encourage some of the UK's next wave of entrepreneurs to take their first steps to success."
Jonathan Mensah Aka JB MadeIt, multi-certified producer & Co-Founder Finesse Foreva said: "As Croydon leaders in music, we've transcended our origins, to create an event tailored for the next generation. Our mission is to inspire young minds to chase their dreams, echoing the very path we undertook.
As a company we have managed to achieve feats such as the first drill number one to selling out the KOKO LDN & more so why not use these achievements to inspire a new generation, especially from the area we grew up in CROYDON!"
Deputy Mayor for Culture and the Creative Industries, Justine Simons OBE, said: "Croydon is renowned for its fantastic music talent and I'm delighted that NXTGEN is bringing together leaders from across the music industry to help young people find out more about the roles that are available. Inspiring young Croydon residents is a key part of the Mayor's London Borough of Culture, and NXTGEN will help them access opportunities, as we build a fairer and more prosperous London for all."
Running alongside is an exhibition, Rewind: This is Croydon's Music, which celebrates Croydon's rich music heritage through a series of varied events taking place at the Museum of Croydon and across the borough, including creative commissions, concerts and music events.
The London Borough of Culture programme is a flagship cultural policy from the Mayor of London. It is supported with further funds from Arts Council England and The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
