Lauren Laverne awarded the MPG Special Recognition Award



Nominees for the 2025 MPG Awards Revealed

 

Today, the Music Producers Guild, in association with Dolby & Mix with Masters has announced Radio DJ and TV presenter, Lauren Laverne as 2025 winner of the gifted, MPG Special Recognition Award. This announcement comes as Lauren returns to BBC Radio 6 Music with a new show, following her return to Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs at the end of last year.  

Anu Pillai, Executive Director of the MPG commented; “The Music Producers Guild is delighted to honour Lauren Laverne with this year’s Special Recognition Award for her unwavering commitment to championing new music. As a celebrated broadcaster on BBC Radio 6 Music and television, Lauren has continually spotlighted emerging talent and the innovative music production that is a hallmark of British musical culture.

This accolade recognises her impact on the music industry and reaffirms our dedication to nurturing the dynamic relationship between artists and the producers who bring their music to life.”

Lauren Laverne, said “I am deeply honoured to be recognised by the MPG. British artists and producers are among the best in the world: endlessly creative, exciting and surprising. It has been one of the greatest joys in my life to find a job that means I get to plug into that every single day and share what they do with listeners at home” 

There are three more gifted awards, PPL Present The MPG Award For Outstanding Contribution To UK Music, which has been awarded to Norman Cook (Fatboy Slim), the MPG Inspiration Award and the MPG Icon Award, which will be announced in the coming weeks. 

The MPG have also revealed the shortlist for the remaining awards, which will be announced at the ceremony on the 24th April at, The Troxy, London E1 0HX. The likes of MNEK, Charli xcx, Marta Salogni, Air Studios, Isabelle Gracefield and A.G. Cook all feature.  

Tickets are on-sale now. Radio DJ and TV presenter, Sian Eleri will be hosting the evening. Sian Eleri is one of the biggest music tastemakers at BBC Radio 1 and shares her love for music across three shows – Future Artists, The Chillest Show, and The Power Down Playlist. The shortlist is made up of nominees voted for by the MPG membership. The final process involves a panel of industry judges who choose the winners.

The MPG will continue to partner with Mix With The Masters who will be capturing content during the ceremony to run across their platforms reaching their global audience and audio community.
