Youth Music has today announced that Round 9 of the Youth Music NextGen Fund will be opening for applications from Friday 31st May 2024 until Friday 28th June 2024.

The fund is designed to help emerging creatives in the music industry realise their goals, with successful applicants granted up to £2,500 to support their projects. Modern creatives are having to be more versatile than ever before, so The Youth Music NextGen Fund is supporting the future of the music industry by enabling musicians and music adjacent creatives adapt and develop new skills.

Whether it is learning new skills to thrive when running a record label, putting on a local events showcase or festival, or filming music videos for rising artists, applications from non-artist creatives, particularly those that are based outside of London, are encouraged.

The Youth Music NextGen Fund Round 9 is delivered in partnership with Players of People’s Postcode Lottery and supported by PPL (Phonographic Performance Limited), and Dr. Martens Foundation. The support from the partners has allowed The Youth Music NextGen Fund to ensure that as many young people are able to access the finance they need.

Youth Music launched the Youth Music NextGen Fund in 2021 to equalise access to the music industry. So far, 276 early-stage musicians and emerging music industry creatives have received funding to launch a project, idea or business. The diverse range of recipients include 38% from the LGBTQ+ community, 38% from a lower socio-economic background, 26% identifying as d/Deaf or Disabled and 50% from the Global Majority.

All information about applying, including tips and advice, can be found on the Youth Music website. The fund is not limited to performers, but also open to producers, A&Rs, managers and agents, plus roles in the music industry that may not yet have been defined.
